BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — South Alabama’s men’s cross country team placed fourth and the women finished fifth Saturday at the Sun Belt Conference Championships, with freshman Patrick Rohr and junior Salome Lecoq earning All-Conference honors.
The South Alabama cross country teams both finished in the top half of the conference despite competing without several key runners.
Men’s 8K
Rohr led the Jaguars by placing ninth individually in the 8-kilometer race. Alex Shields and Ronny Wilson each finished in the top 30.
South Alabama scored 139 points. Arkansas-Little Rock won the team title with 58 points.
Women’s 5K
Lecoq finished fourth in the 5-kilometer race to lead the Jaguar women. Sophomores Shannen Weyer and Kristin Parry each placed in the top 25.
Georgia State won the women’s team championship with 52 points.
Injuries
South Alabama competed without senior Tori Lawson, who was the team’s top runner and an All-Conference performer last season. Sophomore Derek Westbrook has missed the entire season, and Robert Mann has been slowed by injuries in recent weeks.
Up Next
Both teams will run at the NCAA South Regional on Saturday, Nov. 10, in Tallahassee, Fla. The men will race 10 kilometers and the women 6 kilometers.
