MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama defensive lineman Romelle Jones and linebacker Enrique Williams were among 14 Sun Belt Conference players named Tuesday to the Senior Bowl watch list.
The 2014 Senior Bowl is scheduled for Jan. 25 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile and will be televised by NFL Network.
Romelle Jones
Jones, a 6-foot-2, 280-pound defensive lineman from New Orleans, made 18 tackles last season, including 11 solo stops and two tackles for loss, while playing through a lingering injury. For his career he has 70 total tackles, 41 solo, 19 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, two pass breakups, a forced fumble and three fumble recoveries.
Enrique Williams
Williams, a 6-foot, 235-pound linebacker from Mobile’s Blount High School, was South Alabama’s second-leading tackler last season with 105 stops, including 50 solo. He added six tackles for loss, a pass breakup, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
In his career Williams has 239 total tackles, 114 solo, 15 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, eight pass breakups, three forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and an interception.
South Alabama’s Senior Bowl History
Three South Alabama players have been selected for the Senior Bowl. Wide receiver Courtney Smith was the first and played in the 2011 game. Last year, Jake Johnson was a late addition but tore his Achilles tendon on the first day of practice and could not play. Defensive back B.J. Scott, also a late addition, played in the game.

- Louisiana-Lafayette: wide receiver Darryl Surgent
- Louisiana-Monroe: quarterback Kolton Browning and wide receivers Je’Ron Hamm and Tavarese Maye
- Texas State: defensive tackle D.J. Yendrey
- Troy: quarterback Corey Robinson
- Western Kentucky: running back Antonio Andrews and inside linebacker Andrew Jackson
Louisiana-Monroe placed the most players on the list among Sun Belt schools with three.
