South Alabama Soccer Earns No. 2 Seed for Sun Belt Championship in San Marcos

South Alabama earned the No. 2 seed for the Sun Belt women's soccer championship in San Marcos, Texas, and opens Wednesday against Georgia State.

MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama’s women’s soccer team is the No. 2 seed for the 2013 Sun Belt Conference Women’s Soccer Championship, which begins Wednesday in San Marcos, Texas.

The Jaguars finished the regular season 12-5-2 overall and 5-2-1 in conference play. They will open the tournament against seventh-seeded Georgia State (6-9-1, 4-4-0) at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Tiebreaker Secures Second Seed

Western Kentucky won the regular-season title with 18 points, finishing 8-5-5 overall and 6-2-0 in league play. South Alabama and Louisiana-Lafayette tied for second with 16 points each, and the Jaguars claimed the No. 2 seed by virtue of their head-to-head win over the Ragin’ Cajuns.
