South Alabama Softball’s Haley Fagan Announces Transfer to Auburn

Haley Fagan, who led South Alabama softball with 51 RBI as a freshman, announced she is transferring to Auburn and will redshirt the coming season.

MOBILE, Ala. — Haley Fagan, one of the top hitters on the South Alabama softball team, announced on social media that she is transferring to Auburn University.

Fagan is leaving the Jaguars after a freshman season in which she led the team in runs batted in.

Freshman Season Numbers

In 165 at-bats for South Alabama, Fagan hit .352 with 11 home runs and a team-leading 51 RBI. She drew 16 walks and posted a .405 on-base percentage. Defensively, she recorded a .943 fielding percentage.

During the season, Fagan was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week in April after an 8-for-11 weekend against Louisiana-Monroe that included two home runs in one game, tying the program’s single-game record.

Eligibility at Auburn

Under NCAA transfer rules, Fagan must sit out one season. Because she has not used her redshirt year, she will redshirt during the coming season and will have three years of eligibility remaining with the Tigers.

The move takes Fagan to the Southeastern Conference, where her two sisters also play softball.

South Alabama competes in the Sun Belt Conference.
