MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama softball’s Haley Fagan was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week on Monday after a big weekend at the plate against Louisiana-Monroe.
Fagan became the first freshman in the Jaguars’ program to receive a weekly conference honor.
A Big Weekend Against ULM
Fagan went 8-for-11 in the series against the Warhawks, driving in six runs. She hit two home runs in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader.
For the weekend, she posted a 1.273 slugging percentage and a .727 on-base percentage.
Closing In on School Records
Fagan’s two home runs in Saturday’s second game tied the South Alabama program record for home runs by a player in a single game. She is also two home runs shy of tying the school’s single-season home run record.
The freshman has 44 RBI this season, leaving her eight short of the program’s single-season record.
Joining Select Company
Fagan is the fourth South Alabama player to be selected as the Sun Belt’s Player of the Week, joining Farish Beard, Julie Moss and Brittany Fowler. Moss has received the honor twice.
The Jaguars compete in the Sun Belt Conference and play their home games in Mobile.
