MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama softball’s Stephanie Pilkington has been named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week after helping the Jaguars to a 4-0 week.
A Big Week at the Plate
Pilkington batted .545 (6-for-11) over the four games with six runs scored and one RBI. She posted a .545 slugging percentage and a .667 on-base percentage.
The performance moved her back into the team lead in batting average at .354, and she has reached base in seven consecutive games.
The sophomore from Lake City, Fla., is receiving her first Sun Belt weekly award.
Jaguars Continue Run of Weekly Honors
Pilkington is the second South Alabama player to be named Sun Belt Player of the Week this season. Blair Johnson earned the honor on Feb. 24.
Pitcher Farish Beard was named Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week three times in the first five weeks of the season. In all, a Jaguar has received a Sun Belt weekly award in five of the season’s eight voting periods.
South Alabama, coached by Becky Clark, plays its home games at Jaguar Field on the university’s Mobile campus.
