MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama junior Blair Johnson has been named the Sun Belt Conference softball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
It is the first time Johnson has won the award and the second time a Jaguar has received it this season.
10-for-18 at the Plate
Johnson, from Kimberly, Ala., went 10-for-18 last week for a .556 batting average with eight RBIs, a .889 slugging percentage and a .526 on-base percentage.
Her two-run home run lifted South Alabama past No. 17 Georgia 3-2, the Jaguars’ third win over a nationally ranked opponent this season. Against Lehigh, she drove in four runs to tie the team’s single-game record.
Season Numbers
For the season, Johnson is batting .429 and leads the team with a .686 slugging percentage and 13 RBIs. Her 15 hits are tied for the team lead.
South Alabama has opened the season 11-1.
