MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama outfielder Julie Moss has been named the Sun Belt Conference softball Player of the Week for her performance at last weekend’s Mardi Gras Invitational at Jaguar Field.
It is the first time Moss has received the award, and she is the first Jaguar to earn it since Brittany Fowler.
Team-Best .538 Weekend
Moss, a Birmingham native, went 7-for-13 to lead the team with a .538 average for the weekend. She drove in four runs and had two doubles and her first home run of the season as South Alabama went 5-0 in the tournament.
Already Matching Last Season
Moss started 20 games last season and has started eight of the Jaguars’ nine games this year. She has scored nine runs, matching her total from all of last season, with seven of those coming at the Mardi Gras Invitational. She has nine hits this season after finishing last year with 11.
