MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama’s Brittany Fowler has been named the Sun Belt Conference softball Player of the Week after a big Saturday against No. 22 Louisiana-Lafayette.
Three Homers in Doubleheader Sweep
Fowler went 6-for-8 as the Jaguars won both games of a Saturday doubleheader against the Ragin’ Cajuns at Jaguar Field. She hit a grand slam in the opener and two home runs in the second game.
For the weekend, she drove in seven runs and scored four. South Alabama took two of three games in the series.
Third Jaguar Honored This Season
The award is Fowler’s first since Feb. 28, 2011, during her sophomore season, and she is the third South Alabama player to earn the weekly honor this season.
Fowler ranks among the Sun Belt’s top five in runs scored (25), home runs (six), slugging percentage (.708) and on-base percentage (.511). She leads the Jaguars with a .375 batting average.
