MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama softball player Julie Moss has been named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week after driving in 11 runs during the Jaguars’ three-game sweep of Florida International over the weekend.
The award is the second of the season for Moss, who also earned the conference’s weekly honor on Feb. 18.
Big Weekend at the Plate
Moss collected four hits in the series against FIU and drove in 11 runs across the three games. She set a career high with five RBIs in the second game of the weekend.
In the series finale, Moss hit a grand slam that powered South Alabama to an 8-5 victory and completed the sweep.
Moss finished the weekend with a slugging percentage of 1.091 and scored three runs. Between her runs batted in and runs scored, she accounted for 14 of the Jaguars’ 29 runs in the series.
Jaguars Collecting Weekly Honors
Moss is one of three South Alabama players to earn a Sun Belt weekly award this season. Brittany Fowler and Farish Beard have also been recognized by the conference.
With Moss’s latest award, the Jaguars have earned four weekly honors in the first seven weeks of the season, including back-to-back awards on two occasions.
