MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama tight end Wes Saxton has accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Game, according to game organizers.
Saxton, a senior from Hueytown, Alabama, is the first Jaguar selected to play in the Shrine Game.
Fourth Jaguar in a Postseason All-Star Game
Saxton is the fourth South Alabama player chosen to compete in a postseason all-star game in the six-year history of the Jaguars’ football program. Courtney Smith played in the Senior Bowl. Jake Johnson and B.J. Scott played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and were also selected to take part in the Senior Bowl.
Among the School’s Top Receivers
Saxton ranks fourth in South Alabama history in both career receptions, with 96, and receiving yards, with 1,126, over 36 games across the past three seasons.
In 2013, he caught 50 passes for 635 yards, ranking among the Sun Belt Conference’s top 10 in both categories. Those numbers earned him first-team All-Sun Belt honors from the league’s coaches and media.
