The Sun Belt Conference unveiled new logos on Tuesday, replacing the league mark that South Alabama and the conference’s other members have displayed since 1997.
The conference introduced both a primary and a secondary logo. The new marks will go into use on July 1, 2013.
“Together We Rise”
Along with the new designs, the Sun Belt introduced a new conference mantra, “Together We Rise,” which the league described as the foundation and essence of the new logos.
Sun Belt Commissioner Karl Benson said at the conference’s 2012 football media day, his first as commissioner, that the league was anticipating a branding analysis that would include an evaluation of its logo.
Timing With Membership Changes
The new look will take effect on the same date the conference’s membership changes. Georgia State and Texas State are scheduled to join the Sun Belt on July 1, 2013, while Florida International and North Texas depart for Conference USA.
South Alabama, based in Mobile, competes in the Sun Belt Conference. The Jaguars’ football team, coached by Joey Jones, is preparing for its first season as a full Football Bowl Subdivision member.
