NEW ORLEANS — The Sun Belt Conference holds its 2013 football media day today in New Orleans, with South Alabama head coach Joey Jones among the 12 head coaches scheduled to speak.
The Sun Belt media day will be streamed live on ESPN3 beginning at 1 p.m. Central. It is the second straight year the conference and ESPN3 have partnered to carry the event.
A New-Look Conference
The Sun Belt has eight football members for the 2013 season after four schools left the league and two joined. This fall’s lineup consists of South Alabama, Arkansas State, Georgia State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Texas State, Troy and Western Kentucky.
The program also includes the head coaches of four schools expected to join the Sun Belt on July 1, 2014: Paul Petrino of Idaho, Doug Martin of New Mexico State, Jeff Monken of Georgia Southern and Scott Satterfield of Appalachian State.
Commissioner Karl Benson will open the program. Cole Wright will host, and Sun Belt Network football commentator Cole Cubelic will serve as analyst.

South Alabama’s Milestone Year
The 2013 season is South Alabama’s first as a full Football Bowl Subdivision member after completing its two-year transition in 2012. Jones has led the program since before its first season in 2009, and the Jaguars play home games at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile.
