A months-long narcotics investigation in Evergreen has led to three more arrests, as local police continue to dismantle what they describe as an active drug trafficking network in the small Conecuh County city.
According to a release from the Evergreen Police Department, investigators with the department’s Narcotics Division, assisted by its Investigations and Patrol Division, executed a search warrant Friday morning at a home on Bruner Avenue. The operation is part of a broader, ongoing initiative known internally as “Operation Cold Summer.”
Three people were arrested as a result of the search: Demarcus Johnson, 36; Audrenna Cobb, 33; and Jatavious Cobb, 27. Police say each of the three now faces a lengthy list of charges, including trafficking and distribution of illegal drugs.
Evergreen police say “Operation Cold Summer” has now produced a dozen arrests in total tied to drug trafficking, drug distribution and related offenses since the investigation began. Officials described Friday’s raid as part of a sustained, coordinated effort rather than an isolated case, suggesting additional arrests could follow as the investigation continues.
Evergreen serves as the county seat of Conecuh County, a rural stretch of South Alabama along Interstate 65 roughly halfway between Mobile and Montgomery. Small-city police departments in the region have increasingly leaned on multi-month, intelligence-driven investigations like this one to target trafficking networks that often extend well beyond a single house or neighborhood.
