August is heating up along the Gulf Coast, with plenty of ways to get out of the house this week. Whether it’s roasting marshmallows on the beach, cheering on rodeo riders or catching a community back-to-school celebration, there’s something happening across Baldwin County over the next several days.
Silverhill Back to School Bash
The Town of Silverhill will host its Back to School Bash, featuring bingo, burgers and family-friendly activities to celebrate the start of the school year. Community members are invited to gather for an evening of food, games and fun.

S’mores on the Shore in Gulf Shores
The City of Gulf Shores will host its annual S’mores on the Shore event, featuring campfires, music and family-friendly entertainment on the beach. Activities include free s’mores packets, a live DJ, a balloon artist, face painting and fresh watermelon provided by Wheeles Realty. Local organizations and vendors, including the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism and the Gulf Shores Police Department K-9 Division, will also take part. Food will be available for purchase from Hog Wild Food Truck and the Lions Club. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.

28th Annual Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation Professional Rodeo
The Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation will host its 28th annual professional rodeo, featuring competition, specialty acts and family-friendly entertainment. The event includes a Kid’s Corral before each performance, a calf scramble for children ages 6-12 and appearances by a professional rodeo clown. Livestock and event management will be provided by Bo Campbell Rodeo Productions, with contestants affiliated with the Professional Cowboy Association. The covered arena allows the event to go on rain or shine.
When: Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 6-8; gates open at 5 p.m., Kid’s Corral opens at 5:30 p.m., rodeo action begins at 7:30 p.m. each night
