About the Wuerffel Trophy
The Wuerffel Trophy, billed as “College Football’s Premier Award for Community Service,” is presented annually by the All Sports Association to the Football Bowl Subdivision player who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement. The award is named for Danny Wuerffel, the Florida quarterback who won the 1996 Heisman Trophy.
A national selection committee made up of college football television and print media, industry figures, former head coaches and past Wuerffel Trophy winners votes on the award.
Semifinalists will be announced Nov. 3, with finalists named three weeks later. The winner will be announced Dec. 8 at the National Football Foundation’s press conference in New York City, and the 2015 trophy will be presented Feb. 12, 2016, at the 47th annual All Sports Association Awards Banquet in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
