Auburn football player helps deliver Christmas toys to Clarke County children

JACKSON, Ala. — For families in Jackson, this Christmas is a little brighter thanks to a holiday toy distribution in Clarke County.
Auburn football cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett helped put dozens of toys into the hands of local children just in time for the holidays. Pritchett’s family and Jackson High School spent the past couple of weeks collecting toys for the event, held Tuesday at the Divine Hair Design Salon.
“It’s very exciting because around this time most people don’t have what they need to give their children, and for me to be fortunate and have the opportunity to give back, I just see it as a chance to make the children’s lives better,” Pritchett said.
The group says it wants to give back to the community each year. Cheryl Todd, owner of the salon, said the effort is about showing love through action. For one parent, Marquite Sims, the timing was especially meaningful — the distribution fell on her daughter Makaya’s 8th birthday.
