MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama forward Augustine Rubit was named an honorable mention All-American by The Associated Press on Monday, becoming the first Jaguar to earn AP All-America recognition since Terry Catledge in 1984.
Led the League in Rebounding Again
Rubit led the Sun Belt Conference in rebounding at 10.5 per game and ranked second in scoring at 19.4 points per game. He was also second in the league with 16 double-doubles.
He is the first player in Sun Belt history to lead the conference in rebounding in three consecutive seasons.
Single-Season Marks
Rubit set a South Alabama single-season record with 198 free throws made. His 315 rebounds rank third in school history for a season, and his 582 points rank seventh.
All-Conference Recognition
Rubit became the first South Alabama player since 2008 to earn first-team All-Sun Belt honors in consecutive seasons and is only the sixth Jaguar to earn all-conference recognition three times.
The honor is the latest in a string of postseason awards for Rubit, who was also named Sun Belt Player of the Year this season. The Jaguars play their home games at the Mitchell Center.
