The Baldwin County Commission will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. to celebrate the completion of a major renovation at Lillian Recreation Park, a 17-acre community park located at 33914 Widell Ave. along U.S. Highway 98 in Lillian.
The project brought a series of accessibility and infrastructure upgrades to the longtime community gathering spot. Crews installed ADA-compliant restrooms for men and women, expanded ADA-accessible parking, and built a connected network of new sidewalks intended to improve mobility throughout the site. A new open-air, timber-framed pavilion was also added, giving residents a covered space for picnics and other outdoor gatherings.
Additional improvements include new lighting fixtures, a water fountain, and an overhauled utility system, all intended to make the park more functional and welcoming for visitors of all ages and abilities. The upgrades reflect a broader effort in Baldwin County to modernize public recreational facilities while preserving the community feel that has made the park a fixture for Lillian-area residents for years.
Lillian Recreation Park already features sports fields, a playground, and a nature trail, and is open to leashed pets. Throughout the year, the park hosts a busy calendar of community events, including yoga classes, Easter egg hunts, Splash Fest, Market in the Park, movie nights, and seasonal celebrations such as Trunk or Treat and Christmas in the Park.
Residents are invited to attend the Aug. 6 ceremony to see the finished renovations in person and learn more about upcoming programming at the park.
