The University of Mobile is bringing a familiar name home this fall, welcoming contemporary Christian rock band Big Daddy Weave for an outdoor concert on the campus lawn Friday, Oct. 1.

The show is part of the university’s yearlong celebration of its 60th Diamond Anniversary.

The band has deep roots at the school: it was founded by University of Mobile graduates Mike Weaver, Jay Weaver, Joe Shirk and Jeremy Redmon.

Big Daddy Weave has gone on to become one of the most recognizable acts in contemporary Christian music, and its return to the campus where the group began gives students and fans alike a chance to see the band up close under open skies.

About the University of Mobile

The University of Mobile opened in 1961 as Mobile College, a private Christian school affiliated with the Alabama Baptist State Convention, and took its current name in 1993. The 2021-22 academic year marked the school’s 60th anniversary.
