MOBILE, Ala. — Health care providers, wellness professionals, fitness leaders and business owners will gather downtown later this month for Building a Healthier Mobile, a morning networking forum meant to close gaps between the people who deliver care and the community resources that support it.
Aesthetic & Wellness Alliance is hosting the event on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Mobile Chamber, 451 Government St.
Event at a Glance
- What: Building a Healthier Mobile, a health care and wellness networking forum
- When: Thursday, Oct. 22, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Where: Mobile Chamber, 451 Government St., downtown Mobile
- Host: Aesthetic & Wellness Alliance
- Who should attend: Health care, wellness, fitness, business and community leaders from across the Mobile area
Collaboration Over Competition
Organizers say the forum is built around three ideas: collaboration, education and stronger connections among health care providers, wellness professionals, businesses and community resources.
That focus reflects a common challenge in local health care. Patients often move among primary care offices, specialists, gyms, nutrition programs, mental health services and employer wellness plans, and the providers in each setting do not always know what the others offer. A referral that never happens, or a resource a patient never hears about, can leave a gap even in a city with plenty of services.
Healthcare and Wellness Panel
A central part of the morning is a Healthcare & Wellness Panel featuring local leaders. Infirmary Health, one of the region’s largest health systems, will be among the featured health care professionals taking part.
Panelists are expected to discuss:
- Gaps in health care access and services in the Mobile area
- Prevention and early intervention
- Wellness resources available to residents
- Opportunities to better connect patients, professionals and the community
Presentations and Resource Spotlights
Beyond the panel, the program will include presentations on mental wellness and on functional medicine and biomarkers, the measurable indicators such as blood test results that clinicians use to track health over time. Community resource spotlights will introduce attendees to local organizations and services, and the schedule includes time for networking.
The stated goal is practical: identify gaps, share resources, and create openings for future educational programs, community initiatives and employee wellness programs. For employers in particular, the forum offers a chance to meet providers who could help shape workplace wellness efforts.
