CONECUH COUNTY, Ala. — A 74-year-old Castleberry woman died Tuesday evening, Nov. 3, in a single-vehicle crash in Conecuh County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

ALEA said Myrtis M. Mitchell was driving a 2024 Buick Encore that left the roadway, struck a tree and overturned. The crash happened at about 5:15 p.m. on Conecuh County 90 near Conecuh County 23, roughly two miles south of Bellville. Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicle or person was involved, ALEA said. Law enforcement, area fire personnel and emergency medical crews responded. Troopers with the agency’s Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate, and ALEA has not said what caused the vehicle to leave the road.

Conecuh County is a largely rural county in south-central Alabama whose seat is Evergreen.
