Mobile’s Anna McElroy and Grand Bay’s Joe Henley Make The Voice Top 13 as Live Shows Near
Both Alabama singers survived Cut Week on Season 30 of NBC's The Voice. The live shows air Nov. 9 and 16.
MOBILE, Ala. — Two singers from the Mobile Bay area, Anna McElroy of Mobile and Joe Henley of Grand Bay, are among the final 13 contestants on Season 30 of The Voice after surviving the show’s new “Cut Week” episode.
How they advanced
McElroy earned an automatic spot in the live shows when her coach, Kelly Clarkson, chose to advance her. Henley had to impress his coach, Riley Green, one more time before Green picked him for the top 13.
The live shows air across two episodes, Nov. 9 and Nov. 16, at 8 p.m.
The road so far
South AL News has followed both singers this season. McElroy, 26, turned three chairs in her blind audition of Maren Morris’ “80s Mercedes” and chose Clarkson. Her path included an earlier turn on American Idol, which we covered in her profile before Cut Week. Henley won his Battle Round in Green’s group, as reported in our recap of the Battle Rounds.
An Alabama repeat?
Mobile native Alexia Jayy won the competition last season, so an Alabama victory two seasons in a row is possible.
