A Citronelle pastor has been indicted on nine felony counts alleging sex crimes against victims as young as 12 years old, according to court proceedings.
Court records show Gregory Renee Adams was indicted on five counts of rape, two counts of sodomy and two counts of sexual abuse by force. Testimony in the case indicated the alleged abuse spanned decades and crossed state lines.
Mobile police investigators allege Adams used his position as a pastor to encounter his victims, traveling frequently to churches in Citronelle and in Waynesboro, Mississippi. Four people came forward accusing Adams of sexually assaulting them, and two said the abuse began when they were 12 years old.
Details of those allegations emerged in court testimony. Prosecutors have not tried the case, and the indictments are formal accusations — Adams is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
