The Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach will host three fall concerts on its Wolf Bay campus, from smooth jazz and a free Baldwin Pops show to a Veterans Day songwriters' event.

The Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach is bringing three live music events to its waterfront campus this fall, continuing its tradition of pairing performances with the center’s year-round mission of art, education and community gathering. The season gives residents and visitors a reason to return to the bayfront property in three different months, and it puts one of Baldwin County’s most distinctive cultural venues at the center of the fall calendar on the Alabama Gulf Coast.

The center sits on a four-acre property overlooking Wolf Bay along Canal Road. The site has deep roots in the community: it began in 1923 as a boarding-house-style hotel before being transformed into the arts hub it is today, complete with a 10,000-square-foot fine art gallery, a working Clay Studio, and The Hot Shop, a hot glass blowing studio where visitors can watch live demonstrations or create their own pieces. Few venues on the coast combine that kind of setting with working studios, and the property’s century-long story, from travelers’ lodging to public arts campus, has made it a point of local pride.

The Fall Lineup

The season opens Thursday, October 1, 2026, with An Evening of Smooth Jazz Under the Stars. The format takes advantage of the center’s bayfront lawn, where audiences spread across the waterfront grounds as the sun sets over Wolf Bay, a setting that has made outdoor concerts at the property popular well beyond the city limits. On Sunday, October 11, 2026, the free Baldwin Pops in the Courtyard concert follows, open to the public with no ticket required.

The Baldwin Pops appearance carries its own local resonance. The community ensemble draws its players from across Baldwin County and has long served as the area’s homegrown orchestra, performing for audiences who come as much to see their neighbors in the chairs as to hear the program. A free courtyard concert on a Sunday afternoon fits the ensemble’s community-first tradition and gives families an accessible afternoon outing without the cost barrier of a ticketed show.

The series closes on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, Veterans Day, with a joint event featuring the Frank Brown International Songwriters’ Festival and Songwriting With Soldiers, a program that pairs combat veterans with professional songwriters. Tickets for the Veterans Day concert go on sale September 1. The pairing is a natural one: the songwriters’ festival, a fixture of the Gulf Coast each November, brings working Nashville and regional writers to venues along the coast, and the veterans’ songwriting program has built a national reputation for using the craft of songwriting to help service members put their experiences into words.

Update: Tickets for the two ticketed shows in the series can be purchased by calling the Coastal Arts Center at 251-981-2787 or in person at the center, located at 26389 Canal Road in Orange Beach. Staff are available to answer questions about pricing and show times for each event. The free Baldwin Pops in the Courtyard concert on Oct. 11 does not require a ticket.

A Gulf Coast Cultural Hub

Beyond its concert series, the Coastal Arts Center hosts daily classes and rotating gallery exhibitions from regional painters, sculptors and potters. The gallery’s 10,000 square feet allow the center to mount shows that change with the seasons, and the class schedule serves everyone from school-age children to retirees picking up a medium for the first time. The Clay Studio and The Hot Shop turn the campus into a place where art is made in public view, not merely displayed, and the glass studio in particular has become a signature attraction, drawing visitors who return to watch molten material become finished work.

The center is also home to the Orange Beach Festival of Art, a waterfront tradition now in its sixth decade that showcases fine art, live music and local food. The festival was named the 2025 Alabama Event of the Year, an honor that recognized an event which has grown from a local fair into one of the most anticipated arts gatherings on the coast, drawing artists and crowds from across the Southeast each spring.

The Setting on Wolf Bay

The campus’s location along Canal Road places it between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Wolf Bay shoreline, on the quiet western edge of a city better known for its beaches and condominium towers. That geography is part of the center’s identity: visitors cross from the busy beach strip into a bayfront landscape of live oaks and water views, and the transition shapes the pace of every event the center hosts. Wolf Bay itself has long been a working and recreational waterway, home to fishing camps and family cottages for generations before the resort development boom reached the area.

The 1923 boarding house that anchors the property’s history reflects an earlier chapter of Gulf Coast tourism, when visitors arrived by rail and boat for weeks-long stays rather than weekend trips. Buildings on the grounds preserve that heritage even as the campus has grown into a modern arts facility, and the adaptation of a century-old property into gallery, studio and performance space has become part of the story docents and staff share with first-time visitors.

For concertgoers, the bayfront orientation matters as much as the history. Outdoor shows at the center face the water, and the fall season arrives as Gulf Coast weather finally cools, making evening lawn concerts comfortable after a summer when outdoor events swelter. October and November are, by common agreement along the coast, the finest months for being outside, and the center’s lineup puts all three of its shows squarely inside that window.

Why the Songwriters’ Festival Partnership Fits

The Frank Brown International Songwriters’ Festival, which spreads across venues in the Orange Beach, Perdido Key and Pensacola area each November, is named for the longtime night watchman of the Flora-Bama, the landmark beach bar on the Alabama-Florida line, and it has spent more than four decades celebrating the writers behind the songs as much as the performers who made them famous. Its events put hit songwriters in small rooms with acoustic guitars, telling the stories behind the music, a format that translates naturally to a bayfront stage.

Songwriting With Soldiers, the program sharing the Veterans Day bill, brings that same craft to a different purpose. The organization pairs professional songwriters with combat veterans and active-duty service members, turning experiences of deployment, loss and homecoming into finished songs that are performed and recorded. The model, which began with retreats in Texas and has since been featured in national broadcasts, treats songwriting as both art and repair, and its events are known for the emotional weight the finished songs carry.

Holding the two together on November 11 gives the fall series a closing event with substance beyond entertainment. Veterans Day draws observances across Baldwin County every year, and an evening that honors the date through the region’s own songwriting tradition offers a way for the community to mark the holiday that feels native to the coast rather than imported.

What Visitors Should Know

For the October 1 jazz evening and the November 11 songwriters’ event, the center’s staff can take ticket orders by phone at 251-981-2787 or in person at 26389 Canal Road, and they can answer questions about pricing and show times for each. The September 1 on-sale date for the Veterans Day concert gives planners a month’s lead time, and past experience at the venue suggests the ticketed shows fill as the dates approach, particularly for events tied to holidays or festivals already drawing crowds to the coast.

The October 11 Baldwin Pops in the Courtyard concert requires no ticket at all, which makes it the easiest entry point for families and first-time visitors. Attendees typically arrive with lawn chairs and settle in for an afternoon of community orchestral music in a courtyard setting, and the free admission keeps the event open to every corner of the community the center serves.

Between the three concerts, the campus’s daily rhythm continues unchanged: classes in clay and glass, gallery exhibitions rotating through the season, and the steady traffic of visitors discovering that Orange Beach’s arts life extends well beyond the sand. The fall series, in other words, is less a departure than a highlight reel of what the center does all year, staged at the best possible time of year to be outside on Wolf Bay.

Local support has been central to the center’s ability to program a season of this scope. Memberships, class tuition, and festival proceeds all feed back into the campus operations, and volunteers from the Orange Beach arts community turn out for major events in roles ranging from gallery sitting to concert setup. That base has also cushioned the center through the disruptions coastal venues routinely face, including hurricane seasons that have tested every cultural institution on the Alabama shore, and the fall 2026 lineup arriving intact is itself a sign of the resilience those supporters have built.
