ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — The City of Orange Beach is seeking a new leader to manage the Coastal Arts Center, a waterfront arts and events facility on the Alabama Gulf Coast. The role covers a wide range of responsibilities, from managing an annual art festival to overseeing wedding and event bookings, and city officials say they want an experienced, organized professional who can handle both the business and creative sides of the facility.

The city posted the position on Aug. 10, with a closing date of Aug. 23 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. The listing was posted through Orange Beach Parks and Recreation, and candidates are encouraged to apply before the deadline.

The director will oversee day-to-day operations of the Coastal Arts Center campus, a four-acre waterfront property. Responsibilities include managing staff schedules, submitting bi-weekly payroll, overseeing facility rentals and maintaining daily financial records, along with handling public relations and community outreach.

One of the most prominent aspects of the job is managing the city’s nationally recognized two-day Art Festival held each year. The director will also coordinate additional art shows and special events in partnership with city departments, and will work closely with a local nonprofit that provides support and funding for the Art Center.

The position requires at least a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience, along with at least five years of relevant experience, including at least one year in a supervisory role. A valid driver’s license is required, and applicants must be willing to work weekends and non-standard hours as needed.
