The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man in his 50s as a homicide after deputies found him dead of a gunshot wound inside a Ferry Pass-area apartment.

Deputies responded around 10 a.m. Thursday to an apartment on Spanish Trail, off Woodchuck Avenue near Creighton Road, according to the sheriff’s office. The man’s roommates called deputies after finding him deceased inside the apartment.

Investigators have confirmed only that the man died from what appears to be a gunshot wound. The sheriff’s office has not released the man’s identity or said whether a suspect has been identified.
