Fundraiser Set at Picklefish to Support Former South Alabama Kicker Jordan Means

A server at Picklefish on Old Shell Road is donating all of her tips from 5 p.m. to close Wednesday to former South Alabama kicker Jordan Means, the program's first football All-American, who is undergoing cancer treatment.

MOBILE, Ala. — Former South Alabama kicker Jordan Means, the first All-American in the Jaguars’ football history, is the beneficiary of a fundraiser Wednesday evening at a restaurant near campus as he undergoes treatment for cancer.

Tips Donated

Jacey Blaire, a friend of Means who works at Picklefish, announced she will donate all of her tips from 5 p.m. until closing on Wednesday to help with his treatment. Picklefish is located at 5955 Old Shell Road, across from the University of South Alabama campus and the Jaguar softball complex.

Online donations are also being accepted for those unable to attend.

Diagnosis Followed Graduation

Means graduated from South Alabama in May and was diagnosed with cancer in June. He had surgery in July, and his oncologist has since advised that he begin chemotherapy immediately.

Means kicked for the Jaguars during the program’s early seasons under head coach Joey Jones, who has led South Alabama football since its first season in 2009.
