Oil reached the Mobile Bay shoreline and the beach at Fort Morgan in June 2010, according to a WKRG report.

The report described coin-sized globs in the water and brown material on sand near the historic fort. A contracted cleanup crew was waiting nearby while volunteers began removing material from the shoreline.

The report came as oil from the Deepwater Horizon spill spread toward Mobile Bay and the resort communities along Alabama’s coast.

This is a historical summary of 2010 oil-spill reporting. It is not a current beach-condition report.
