Comedian Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias will bring his stand-up act to the Mobile Civic Center Arena on Saturday, Nov. 6, as part of his newly announced “Beyond the Fluffy World Tour: Go Big or Go Home.” The stop brings a nationally touring headline comedy act to the arena on Civic Center Drive in downtown Mobile.
Tickets go on sale to the general public starting Friday, April 23, at 10 a.m. and will be available online as well as in person at the Mobile Civic Center Box Office. Additional details on pricing and any VIP packages are expected to be released alongside the on-sale date.
Iglesias has built one of the largest followings in stand-up comedy over the past two decades, headlining and selling out arenas such as the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Madison Square Garden in New York and the Sydney Opera House in Australia. Only a small number of comedians have sold out all three venues, and Iglesias’s name is regularly mentioned alongside comedy heavyweights such as Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock; he was featured alongside both performers on the Hollywood Reporter’s list of the top 40 comedy players.
Beyond his live shows, Iglesias has cultivated a massive following online, with more than half a billion views on YouTube and more than 24 million followers across social media platforms, placing him among the most-watched comedians on the internet.
“There is still no greater thrill for me than to perform stand-up live,” Iglesias said in a statement announcing the tour. “I’m so excited for this tour and to reconnect with all my fans, it’s going to be Fluffy-licious.”
The Mobile stop comes as Iglesias juggles a busy slate of television and film projects. He stars in and executive produces the Netflix series “Mr. Iglesias,” playing a public high school teacher who returns to his alma mater to mentor a group of gifted but overlooked students, working to keep them from being pushed out of school by an unsympathetic administrator while helping them reach their potential. Multiple seasons of the show are currently streaming.
Iglesias also hosts Nickelodeon’s animal talent competition series “Unleashed,” a 10-episode show that brings together impressive pet acts to compete in front of a live kid jury and celebrity judges, including Peyton List, Preacher Lawson and Utkarsh Ambudkar, with the top animal crowned “Most Entertaining Pet” of the night.
On the stand-up side, his most recent Netflix special, “One Show Fits All,” was filmed in front of a sold-out crowd at the Toyota Center in Houston, and a third special for the streaming service is expected to be taped later this year. Those specials follow his breakout 2017 special, “I’m Sorry For What I Said When I Was Hungry,” as well as earlier hits such as “Gabriel Iglesias: Aloha Fluffy,” a two-night special that drew more than 15 million viewers, and DVD releases “Hot & Fluffy” and “I’m Not Fat…I’m Fluffy,” which have sold millions of copies combined.
Iglesias’s film resume spans both animated and live-action features, including “Coco,” “Ferdinand,” “The Book of Life,” “Smurfs: The Lost Village,” “Norm of the North,” “The Nut Job,” Disney’s “Planes” and STXfilms’ “UglyDolls,” along with live-action roles in “Magic Mike,” “Magic Mike XXL,” “Show Dogs” and “A Haunted House 2.” He is also set to voice Speedy Gonzales in “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” slated for theaters and streaming on HBO Max this summer.
