George Hall Elementary School in Mobile was named one of six recipients nationwide of the 2008 Panasonic National School Change Award.
The program recognized schools that had moved from underperforming to exemplary status through work by students, families and staff focused on academic success.
National recognition and support
The award included $5,000, Panasonic products, national media recognition and a school ceremony planned for 2009. It also included support for the principal to participate in a national leadership institute and an award presentation connected with the U.S. Department of Education.
George Hall was also selected to participate in a national research project examining school change.
