DAPHNE, Ala. — A Tennessee children’s salon known for first haircuts, kid-sized spa days and glitter-filled birthday parties is making its first move outside its home state, and it has picked Daphne for the job.
Giggles and Glam Salon has broken ground on a new location at the Jubilee shopping center, 6882 Highway 90, Suite G-02. The family-run business expects to open in spring 2027.
The Daphne salon will be the company’s second location. For more than 13 years, Giggles and Glam has operated in Middle Tennessee, where it has built a following among families and collected a number of local accolades. Its current salon is at 300 Indian Lake Blvd. in Hendersonville, a suburb north of Nashville.
What the salon will offer
The company said the Daphne location will carry all of its signature specialties, pairing a children’s salon and spa with a retail shop. According to the company, those include:
- A specialty toy boutique
- Sensory-friendly salon services
- Haircuts for children by experienced stylists
- First-haircut packages
- Special occasion updos
- Spa makeovers
- Birthday parties
At its Tennessee salon, Giggles and Glam lists a menu built around young customers. A “My First Haircut” package, which includes keepsakes from the occasion, is listed at $35. Haircut options for boys and girls carry playful names, and the menu also offers braids, blowouts and styling, with add-ons such as glitter or colorful hair extensions. The company also promotes kids’ pedicures and spa services, makeover packages and themed parties, including princess and spa parties. Prices and services in Daphne have not been announced and could differ.
The Hendersonville salon operates by appointment only, with online booking. Whether the Daphne location will follow the same model has not been announced.
Why sensory-friendly services matter
One of the features the company highlighted for Daphne is sensory-friendly salon services. For many families, a trip to the barber or salon can be stressful for a child who is sensitive to noise, touch, bright lights or unfamiliar settings. Children with autism or sensory processing differences, in particular, may struggle with the buzz of clippers, the feel of cut hair or sitting still in a large chair.
Sensory-friendly services generally aim to reduce those stressors, often with a calmer pace, quieter tools or settings, and stylists who are prepared to adjust to a child’s needs. Parents who are interested in those services may want to contact the salon closer to opening to ask exactly what accommodations will be available.
A family business looks south
The company described the Daphne opening as a major milestone for the family-run business, which is bringing its child-focused services and retail shop to Alabama’s Gulf Coast.
On social media, the salon has shared its excitement about the project, calling the Daphne location a dream and telling followers that demolition was underway and construction had begun on the space. The company’s website now lists Daphne as “opening soon” and invites families to sign up for news and updates.
The company’s website also includes a franchising page, a sign that the owners have considered growth beyond their original salon.
A growing market for family businesses
The choice of Daphne fits a broader pattern in Baldwin County, one of the fastest-growing counties in Alabama. The county’s population rose from about 182,000 in the 2010 census to nearly 232,000 in 2020, and growth has continued since. Much of that growth has been driven by young families moving to the Eastern Shore, drawn by the area’s schools, neighborhoods and access to both Mobile and the beaches.
Daphne, known as the Jubilee City, sits at the center of that activity. Its retail corridors along U.S. 90 and U.S. 98 have seen steady interest from local and regional businesses, and the city has been working on infrastructure to keep up with traffic, including a recently announced $8.1 million federal grant for County Road 13 safety improvements near three schools.
Businesses that cater to children and parents, from youth sports to party venues, have followed that growth. A salon built specifically for children, with a toy boutique and party space under one roof, will add another option for families on the Eastern Shore.
What happens next
Construction is now underway at the Jubilee shopping center site, and the salon is targeting a spring 2027 opening. The company has not announced a specific opening date, hours, staffing plans or a local phone number for the Daphne location.
Families who want updates can sign up through the company’s website, gigglesandglamsalon.com, or follow Giggles and Glam Salon on social media, where the owners have been posting progress on the build-out.
