Izabella Walker, also a Jackson High senior and Clarke County’s Distinguished Young Woman, was named first runner-up and received a $1,500 scholarship. Anna Claire Whigham, a senior at Millry High School, was second runner-up and received $1,000.

The pageant was part of the annual Clarke-Washington Fair at the Cecil E. McMullan Fairgrounds, which runs through Nov. 5 and is sponsored by the Jackson Area Rotary Club.

About the winners

Rone takes several honors classes, and her favorite is the dual-enrollment certified nursing assistant class. She attends Jackson First Assembly, where she is a youth group leader, and she has taken part in several church mission trips. Rone said her faith has played a major role in shaping who she is, teaching her virtues such as service, gratitude and patience.

Walker has taken honors classes since seventh grade. She plays on Jackson’s tennis team and is president of the school’s HOSA chapter. She has danced at Jordan School of Dance since age 4 and took part in the Clarke-Washington EMC Youth Tour in January.

Whigham is class president at Millry. She takes part in Beta Club, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Future Farmers of America and the yearbook. She has a 4.0 grade point average and has earned enough college credits to enter college as a sophomore. She also expects to graduate with her CNA certification. Whigham is active in her church youth group, serves on the 4-H Youth Council and volunteers each year with the county Special Olympics. She was one of four students chosen to represent Alabama at the National 4-H Youth Conference in Washington, D.C., this year.
