Mobile police have arrested a man they believe shot a homeowner who caught him rummaging through his vehicle on Bristol Court in 2021.
Homeowner Confronted a Car Prowler
Kendale R. Miller, 23, was taken into custody Thursday, according to the Mobile County Metro Jail website. The case dates to the early morning of Sept. 20, 2021, when deputies were sent to the 1100 block of Bristol Court around 6 a.m. after reports of several car burglaries. There they found a 42-year-old man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the knee.
According to Mobile police, the victim was shot after confronting Miller, whom they described as unlawfully rummaging through his vehicle. That October, the department announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the shooting.
Charges From Three Separate Incidents
In addition to charges stemming from the September 2021 shooting, Miller faces first-degree burglary and two counts of second-degree assault tied to a Nov. 16 incident, along with additional charges connected to an Oct. 18 incident. The full charge lists were not detailed in jail records at the time of the arrest.
