Grayson Capps marked the release of The Lost Cause Minstrels with a packed CD release party at The Shed in Mobile on June 14, 2011 — an evening that doubled as 92ZEW’s Second Tuesday music series and drew enough fans that every seat and standing spot was spoken for early.

Capps was joined on stage by vocalist Lisa Mills and the full Lost Cause Minstrels lineup: John Milham, Chris Spies, Christian Grizzard and Corky Hughes. Rather than trim the night down to a highlight reel, the complete performance was captured and shared in full — a nod, organizers said, to how strongly Mobile has supported live original music.

The Shed, the rustic venue off U.S. 90 that has become one of the Gulf Coast’s most reliable rooms for songwriter-driven acts, proved a fitting setting for the album’s homecoming. The show capped a run of Second Tuesday showcases that have paired national touring acts with the region’s own artists, and it gave local listeners a first live listen to the new record’s material played by the band that recorded it.
