Robertsdale Street to Close Monday as Work Begins on New Amphitheater
E. Chicago Street in Robertsdale will close Monday as construction begins on a new amphitheater, with the city directing motorists to use SR-59 as a detour.
ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — A stretch of E. Chicago Street in Robertsdale is scheduled to close beginning Monday as construction gets underway on a new amphitheater in the city, according to a notice posted on the City of Robertsdale’s Facebook page.
The closure covers E. Chicago Street from the intersection of Michigan Street to Pennsylvania Street. City officials said the street is expected to remain closed for the duration of the project and encouraged motorists to use SR-59 as a detour, allowing extra time when traveling through the area.
“Please use caution around the construction zone and plan accordingly,” the city said in its announcement. “We appreciate your patience and cooperation as work continues on this exciting project for our community!”
The amphitheater is part of a broader entertainment project in Robertsdale, and the city has not yet announced a timeline for when the road will reopen.
About the amphitheater project
The city has announced that the amphitheater is being built at Honey Bee Park. City plans reported in 2025 put its estimated cost at $3.4 million, with $2 million coming from the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA), a federal program that shares a portion of offshore oil and gas revenue with Gulf Coast states and coastal counties and cities.
