20-year-old Austin Gill of Semmes died when his motorcycle collided with a car on Schillinger Road. A second person was injured.
A 20-year-old Semmes man was killed and another person was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Schillinger Road, according to state troopers.
The collision happened around 1 p.m. Thursday, just outside the Semmes city limits. Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency say Austin Gill was riding his motorcycle when it collided with a car. Gill died from his injuries; a second person involved in the wreck was hurt.
Second Motorcycle Loss for the Family
The crash carries a heartbreaking echo for the Gill family. His father, Jeffery Gill, also died in a motorcycle accident on Moffett Road 15 months earlier — not far from the scene of Thursday’s fatal collision.
Troopers have not released further details about what led to the crash or whether charges are expected. The investigation remains ongoing.
