The National Maritime Museum of the Gulf has released the schedule for a full weekend of live music, art and coast-inspired festivities marking the exhibition’s opening on Saturday, Sept. 12 and Sunday, Sept. 13.
The celebration kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday with the official opening of the permanent 6,000-square-foot immersive exhibition, which chronicles Buffett’s life from his family’s roots in Pascagoula and Mobile through the adventures behind the songs.
Saturday
Alongside the more than 130 artifacts on display and the immersive concert experience, visitors will be treated to live performances from Radio Margaritaville personality and musician Krystal King from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by Greg Mihaly from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Author Donna Rocco will also be on-site signing copies of her Jimmy Buffett Little Golden Book.
Sunday
The celebration continues Sunday, Sept. 13, with live music from the Salt Shakers Band from noon to 3 p.m.
The grand opening weekend coincides with the 2026 Mobtown Mural Festival, which brings artists and the creative spirit of the Gulf Coast together across the same two days. Food trucks will be on hand throughout the weekend.
“It’s a point of pride for many Mobilians to trace Jimmy Buffett’s roots to the Port City, so it’s fitting that the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf would host this one-of-a-kind exhibit dedicated to his legacy,” Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis said.
The National Maritime Museum of the Gulf is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
