Season Ends Dec. 7

South Alabama will play on Dec. 7, the final weekend of the regular season, when several conferences stage their championship games. The Sun Belt will not hold a title game; a conference needs at least 12 members to stage a football championship game, and the Sun Belt will have eight football-playing members in 2013.

National Television

The conference also announced that Sun Belt teams will make two midweek appearances on ESPN or ESPN2 and four Thursday night appearances on ESPNU. ESPN may add more games through its 12-day selection window.

Louisiana-Lafayette, the two-time defending R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl champion, will play in both ESPN/ESPN2 games. The Ragin’ Cajuns visit Western Kentucky, coached by former Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on Oct. 15 or 16.

The following week, Louisiana-Lafayette faces Arkansas State, the defending GoDaddy.com Bowl champion and two-time defending Sun Belt champion, on Oct. 22 or 23.

Media Day

ESPN3 will carry the Sun Belt Conference Football Media Day for the second straight year. The event is scheduled for July 15 in New Orleans.
