South Alabama Takes On Tennessee at Neyland Stadium as 19-Point Underdog

South Alabama, 2-1, plays at Tennessee in Neyland Stadium as a 19-point underdog, with an 11:21 a.m. CDT kickoff on the SEC Network.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — South Alabama plays at Tennessee on Saturday at Neyland Stadium, which seats more than 102,000. Kickoff is set for 11:21 a.m. CDT, and the game will be televised by the SEC Network.

The Jaguars, 2-1, are listed as 19-point underdogs by oddsmaker Danny Sheridan.

Jaguars Have Won Two Straight

South Alabama lost its season opener to Southern Utah, then won its next two games against Tulane and Western Kentucky.

Against Western Kentucky, Ross Metheny played quarterback for the entire first half. Brandon Bridge started the second half, and the Jaguars rallied from a 21-10 halftime deficit to win 31-24.

South Alabama has used two, and at times three, quarterbacks this season. Coach Joey Jones has said deciding when to make a change of pace at the position is partly a gut feeling.

Volunteers Force Turnovers

Tennessee leads the Southeastern Conference and ranks third nationally with 12 forced turnovers, including eight interceptions and four fumble recoveries.

Justin Worley will start at quarterback for the Volunteers. Worley was benched in favor of redshirt freshman Nathan Peterman during last week’s game at Florida, but Peterman was injured, returning the starting job to Worley.

Tennessee Seeks to End Skid

Tennessee has lost its last two games, both on the road, to No. 2 Oregon and No. 21 Florida. After facing South Alabama, the Volunteers play Georgia and South Carolina, both ranked in the top 15.

How to Follow

In addition to the SEC Network telecast, the game will air on WNSP 105.5 FM in Mobile and online at wnsp.com. Lee Shirvanian will call play-by-play, and Rick Cleveland will provide color commentary.
