MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama senior Augustine Rubit was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 24 team on Tuesday, the fourth consecutive season he has received an NABC All-District honor.
Senior Season
Rubit led the Jaguars in scoring for the third straight year, averaging 17 points per game, the sixth-highest average in the Sun Belt Conference. He became the first South Alabama player since 1988, and only the second in program history, to lead the team in scoring average for three consecutive seasons.
He also led South Alabama in rebounding at 9.4 per game, third-best in the conference. That made him the first player in school history to lead the Jaguars in rebounding average for four straight seasons.
Rubit recorded 12 double-doubles this season, third-most in the Sun Belt. He scored 20 or more points in 10 games, including a career-high 35 points against then-No. 16 Gonzaga on Dec. 14.
Record Book
Rubit finishes his career holding several South Alabama records:
- Career rebounds: 1,183, which is also a Sun Belt Conference record
- Career free throws made: 550
- Career free throws attempted: 763
Four-Year Run
The All-District selection adds to a list of honors for Rubit that includes Sun Belt Player of the Year recognition as a junior and the conference’s preseason Player of the Year honor entering this season. He played his home games at the Mitchell Center under head coach Matthew Graves this season.
