MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama senior Dustin Dalken has been named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday, after a week in which he homered twice and drove in six runs to help the Jaguars to a 3-1 record.
Dalken, a 6-foot-6 senior from Gainesville, Ga., went 7-for-13 at the plate over the four games. He hit a double and two home runs, drove in six runs, scored three times and reached base at a .571 clip.
Hits in Every Game
Dalken recorded at least one hit in each of South Alabama’s four games during the week. He put together two multi-hit games and two games with multiple RBI.
The run extended his hitting streak to 12 consecutive games, the longest of his career.
Big Weekend Against Louisiana-Lafayette
Most of Dalken’s production came during the weekend series against Sun Belt rival Louisiana-Lafayette. He went 6-for-12 in the series with a double, both of his home runs for the week, all six of his RBI and three runs scored, totaling 13 bases.
Third Jaguar Honored This Season
The award is the first Player of the Week honor of Dalken’s career. He is the third South Alabama player to earn a Sun Belt weekly award during the 2013 season.
The weekly honor came as the Jaguars headed into the final stretch of the Sun Belt Conference regular season.
