MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama baseball enters Sunday’s series finale against Louisiana-Lafayette at Stanky Field with a 4-1 record in Sun Belt Conference play after a road sweep at Arkansas-Little Rock.
Non-Conference Opening
The Jaguars opened the season against a schedule that included Alabama, Tulane and Siena. South Alabama lost both games against Alabama, the first in Tuscaloosa and the second, a closer contest, in Mobile.
A scheduled game against Mississippi State was postponed because of weather. South Alabama then beat Tulane at Stanky Field and won two of three games against Siena, also at home.
The Jaguars were 8-5 when conference play began.
Sweep at UALR
South Alabama opened its Sun Belt schedule with a three-game sweep of Arkansas-Little Rock in Little Rock, Ark.
The Jaguars then split a two-game non-conference series at Memphis.
Louisiana-Lafayette Series
South Alabama’s Sun Belt home opener this weekend has been split through two games. Louisiana-Lafayette won Friday night, and the Jaguars won Saturday night. The rubber game begins at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Schedule Ahead
The rest of the season will mix three-game Sun Belt weekend series with non-conference games. Upcoming non-conference opponents include Southern Miss, Auburn and Nicholls State.
Steve Kittrell is South Alabama’s head coach.
