MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama baseball sits in first place in the Sun Belt Conference standings with three league series remaining in the regular season.
Standings
The Jaguars hold a half-game lead over second-place Florida Atlantic and a game-and-a-half lead over third-place Middle Tennessee.
Remaining Conference Schedule
After an off week, South Alabama hosts Florida Atlantic at Stanky Field in a series between the top two teams in the standings. The Jaguars then travel to Florida International before closing the regular season at home against Troy.
Kittrell Eyes Conference Tournament
Head coach Steve Kittrell, who reached 1,000 career wins in 2009, said he believes the Jaguars need to win the Sun Belt Conference Tournament to keep their path to the College World Series in their own hands.
Kittrell noted that the Sun Belt is currently ranked fifth among the nation’s conferences, but said that standing does not guarantee that two or more league teams will advance in the NCAA postseason.
