MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama’s baseball team clinched a spot in the Sun Belt Conference Championship by winning two of three games against Troy at Stanky Field over the weekend. The Jaguars will open the tournament against the same opponent.
Baseball: Series Win Over Troy
South Alabama won the first two games of the series, 6-5 and 13-6, before Troy took the finale 12-7.
The Sun Belt Championship begins Wednesday in Troy. The sixth-seeded Jaguars will play third-seeded Troy for the fourth consecutive game at 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday’s Tournament Schedule
- 9 a.m. — No. 4 FIU vs. No. 5 Louisiana-Lafayette
- 12:30 p.m. — No. 1 Middle Tennessee vs. No. 8 Florida Atlantic
- 4 p.m. — No. 2 Western Kentucky vs. No. 7 Louisiana-Monroe
- 6:30 p.m. — No. 3 Troy vs. No. 6 South Alabama
Soccer: 2009 Schedule Released
The South Alabama soccer team released its 2009 schedule, which includes matches against Southern Miss, Mississippi State, Florida State, Auburn and Alabama. The Jaguars open the season Aug. 22 at Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, Miss.
Football: Countdown to Kickoff
South Alabama’s inaugural football season is 109 days away. The Jaguars, coached by Joey Jones, play their first game Sept. 5 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
