MOBILE, Ala. — Rain wiped out both of South Alabama’s scheduled baseball and softball games on Wednesday, and neither has been rescheduled.
Baseball
The South Alabama baseball game against Jacksonville State was cancelled because of unplayable conditions at Eddie Stanky Field. Rain that moved through the area overnight Tuesday continued into Wednesday morning, forcing the cancellation. No makeup date has been announced.
The Jaguars next travel to Fayetteville, Ark., for a three-game weekend series against No. 24 Arkansas.
Softball
The softball team’s scheduled trip to Thibodaux, La., to play Nicholls State was called off because of heavy rain in that area. A new date has not been set.
The two teams will still meet this weekend, when South Alabama and Nicholls State both compete in the Gulf Coast Softball Classic in Gulfport, Miss.
Both South Alabama programs compete in the Sun Belt Conference.
