MOBILE, Ala. — Arkansas State pulled away with a 20-2 run that included 18 unanswered points and beat South Alabama 85-61 on Thursday night at the Mitchell Center, the Jaguars’ most lopsided home loss since the 2008-09 season.
The Red Wolves had already built a 10-2 lead early in the game before the decisive run. The defeat was South Alabama’s sixth in a row and dropped the Jaguars to 7-17 overall and 1-10 in the Sun Belt Conference. Arkansas State improved to 14-8 and 7-4 in league play.

South Alabama sits last in the Sun Belt standings. Only the top eight teams qualify for the conference tournament in New Orleans.
Texas State currently holds the eighth and final spot with a 3-7 conference record, and Troy is a half-game behind at 3-8. With seven games left, South Alabama remains in contention for a tournament berth.
