Fans of comics, gaming and pop culture will have plenty to look forward to this fall as South Alabama Comic Con returns to the Mobile Convention Center for a weekend of celebrity appearances, cosplay and gaming. VXV Events, the convention’s organizer, announced the show will run Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 3 and 4.

The event has built a following in recent years by bringing a wide mix of film, television, voice acting and gaming talent to the Gulf Coast, and this year’s guest list continues that trend with names spanning decades of movies, shows and games.

Who’s Coming to South Alabama Comic Con

According to organizers, confirmed guests so far include actors Diedrich Bader, known for “The Drew Carey Show,” “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Office Space”; Kristy McNichol, known for “Little Darlings,” “The Pirate Movie” and “Empty Nest”; Vicki Lawrence, known for “The Carol Burnett Show” and “Mama’s Family”; Matt Ryan, known for “Constantine” and DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow”; Vernon Wells, known for “The Road Warrior” and “Commando”; and Karan Ashley, known for “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.”

The voice acting lineup includes Troy Baker of “The Last of Us,” Kellen Goff of “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” and Debi Derryberry, the voice of “Jimmy Neutron.” A reunion of sorts is also planned, with several voice actors from the original animated “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” series set to appear, including Rob Paulsen, Barry Gordon, Townsend Coleman and Renae Jacobs.

Cast members from other popular franchises are also on the schedule. From “Rick and Morty,” fans can meet Spencer Grammer, Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden. Guests connected to the “Red Dead Redemption” video game series include Roger Clark, Rob Wiethoff, Benjamin Byron Davis and Alex McKenna, while Kaiji Tang and Adam McArthur, who lend their voices to “Jujutsu Kaisen,” round out the gaming and animation representation.

The convention will also welcome professional wrestlers and commentators Dustin Rhodes, Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross, along with comic creators Mike Decarlo, Steven Butler and Lily Butler.

What to Expect at the Convention

Beyond meet-and-greets, organizers say attendees can take part in Q&A sessions with celebrity guests, panels led by professional cosplayers and artists, and a costume contest. The weekend will also feature video and tabletop gaming, photo opportunities, and a large vendor floor. Local fan groups are expected to set up displays and performances throughout both days as well.

Tickets and Admission

Advance discount tickets are available through Tixr, VXV Events’ exclusive ticket provider, starting at $30, plus applicable taxes and fees, for a single day and $50, plus applicable taxes and fees, for the full weekend. Members of the military are eligible for discounted admission, and children 10 and younger get in free with a paid adult ticket, with a limit of two children per paid admission. Additional details, including further guest announcements and the full programming schedule, are expected to be released by organizers as the event approaches.
