South Alabama Football Finalizes 2016, 2017 Non-Conference Schedules With LSU, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State

South Alabama finalized its 2016 and 2017 non-conference football schedules, adding games at Mississippi State, LSU and Ole Miss and a home date with Oklahoma State.

MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama athletics announced Wednesday that it has finalized the Jaguars’ non-conference football schedules for 2016 and 2017, which include road games at Mississippi State, LSU and Ole Miss and a home game against Oklahoma State.

2016 Non-Conference Schedule

South Alabama will open the 2016 season at Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss., on Sept. 3, completing a three-game contract with the Bulldogs. The Jaguars will also play UAB on Sept. 10, host Nicholls State on Sept. 24 and travel to LSU on Oct. 15.

2017 Non-Conference Schedule

The 2017 season opens at Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss., on Sept. 2. South Alabama then hosts Oklahoma State on Sept. 9 and Alabama A&M on Sept. 16 before traveling to Louisiana Tech on Sept. 30.

2015 Schedule

The 2015 non-conference schedule was already set. South Alabama opens at home against Gardner-Webb on Sept. 5, plays at Nebraska on Sept. 12 and at UAB on Sept. 19, and hosts North Carolina State on Sept. 26.

Dates for 2015 Sun Belt Conference games have not been finalized. South Alabama’s league opponents will be Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Idaho and Louisiana-Lafayette, along with road games at Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Texas State and Troy.

Dates on future schedules are subject to change.

  • 2015: Sept. 5 vs. Gardner-Webb; Sept. 12 at Nebraska; Sept. 19 at UAB; Sept. 26 vs. North Carolina State
  • 2016: Sept. 3 at Mississippi State; Sept. 10 UAB; Sept. 24 vs. Nicholls State; Oct. 15 at LSU
  • 2017: Sept. 2 at Ole Miss; Sept. 9 vs. Oklahoma State; Sept. 16 vs. Alabama A&M; Sept. 30 at Louisiana Tech
  • 2018: Sept. 1 vs. Louisiana Tech; Sept. 8 at Oklahoma State
  • 2019: Aug. 31 at Nebraska; Sept. 28 at Tulane
  • 2020: Sept. 5 at Southern Miss; Sept. 19 at Oklahoma State; Oct. 10 vs. Tulane
  • 2021: Sept. 4 vs. Southern Miss; Sept. 11 at Bowling Green

Program Background

South Alabama, coached by Joey Jones, is in its second season as a full member of the Sun Belt Conference and the Football Bowl Subdivision. The Jaguars play home games at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile.
