MONROE, La. — Carter Bradley threw for 303 yards and three touchdowns, and South Alabama football beat Louisiana-Monroe 55-7 on Saturday for its first win at Malone Stadium.
La’Damian Webb ran for 100 yards and a touchdown, and Caullin Lacy caught seven passes for 156 yards and a score, extending his streak of 100-yard receiving games.
South Alabama improved to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the Sun Belt Conference. Louisiana-Monroe fell to 2-3 and 0-2.
Fast Start
South Alabama took the opening kickoff and drove 75 yards in 10 plays and 4:03 for a touchdown. By the end of the first quarter, the Jaguars had more points, 14, than Louisiana-Monroe had total yards, eight.
South Alabama led 31-0 before the Warhawks drove 75 yards in 11 plays and scored as time expired in the first half, cutting the margin to 31-7. Those were Louisiana-Monroe’s only points.
Second-Half Shutout
The Jaguars blanked the Warhawks after halftime. Louisiana-Monroe’s best second-half chance ended at the South Alabama 16-yard line, where it turned the ball over on downs after a sack.
South Alabama controlled the clock late, and backup quarterback Gio Lopez threw a touchdown pass to Jeremiah Webb. It was the first career touchdown for both players.
South Alabama Statistics
The Jaguars finished with 589 yards of total offense, 387 passing and 202 rushing. They converted 7 of 13 third-down attempts and all three of their fourth-down attempts, and held the ball for 36:30 to Louisiana-Monroe’s 23:30.
South Alabama scored on all six of its trips inside the red zone, five touchdowns and a field goal, keeping intact its streak of red-zone scoring this season.
Bradley completed 20 of 29 passes for 303 yards and three touchdowns. Lopez was 7-of-10 for 84 yards and a touchdown.
Lacy led all receivers with seven catches for 156 yards and a touchdown. Brandon Crum and Jeremiah Webb each caught a 3-yard touchdown pass, and nine other Jaguars caught passes.
La’Damian Webb carried 19 times for 100 yards and a touchdown. Marco Lee Jr. added 49 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, and Kentrel Bullock ran seven times for 38 yards and a touchdown.
Trey Kiser led the defense with nine tackles, three solo, and a half-sack. James Miller and Khalil Jacobs each made six tackles. Jaden Voisin and Wesley Miller each intercepted a pass.
Louisiana-Monroe Statistics
Louisiana-Monroe managed 250 yards, 112 passing and 138 rushing. The Warhawks converted 7 of 15 third downs and failed on both fourth-down attempts.
Quarterback Jiya Wright completed 13 of 28 passes for 112 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions, and was sacked five times. He also led the Warhawks in rushing with 53 yards on 13 carries. Bennett Galloway ran for 45 yards on six carries, and Hunter Smith had 19 yards on six carries.
Tyrone Howell caught four passes for 41 yards and Louisiana-Monroe’s touchdown. Howell missed time after being shaken up on the second play of the game, which ended in a South Alabama interception. Nolan Quinlan caught three passes for 29 yards.

South Alabama has extra time to prepare for its next game, a home matchup with Southern Miss on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Hancock Whitney Stadium. The Golden Eagles are 1-5 overall and 0-3 in Sun Belt play and have lost five straight games.
